When to turn on the fog lamps in the truck?

Fog lamps in a truck
The lighting in the vehicle is an extremely important part of the car's equipment. Appropriate lamps make it easier for the driver to move around after dark or during difficult weather conditions. In addition, the vehicle is clearly visible to other road users, therefore the lamps have a direct impact on road safety. Lights can be used for various purposes - for example, they can signal other drivers that the driver intends to make a manoeuvre. The type of lamps and their quantity may vary depending on the type of vehicle. Both of these issues are precisely regulated in traffic regulations. Appropriate standards precisely define which lamps a vehicle should be equipped with.
A truck is a special type of vehicle. The truck is used primarily to transport goods over shorter or longer distances. Because if its intense use, the construction of the vehicle must be solid and durable. Of course, efficient lamps are very important. Depending on the type of lights, they can be used for different purposes. Fog lamps in a truck are a prime example. The name of the lights already indicates the conditions in which this type of lighting should be used. First of all, fog lights should be turned on during thick fog, but also in other road conditions with poorer visibility.
Where should fog lamps be mounted?
Each vehicle must have two or one rear fog lamp. Rear fog lights should be red and shine brightly and steadily. The fog light should be located as low as possible in the car, but not lower than 25 cm from the road surface. Thanks to this type of lamp, other drivers are able to see the vehicle in fog or other unfavorable weather conditions. The second type of lamps are front fog lamps. They improve visibility in front of the truck. It should be noted, however, that this light is not required by traffic regulations. Therefore, there is no obligation to have it, and thus not every vehicle is equipped with it. These two lamps are mounted in on both sides of the bumper. As in the case of rear fog lamps, the front fog lights should be located as low as possible on the body.
In what road conditions should the fog lamps be switched on?
Fog lamps significantly improve visibility on the road, while the transparency of the air is limited - e.g. during thick fog, heavy rainfall, snowstorm, smoke or smog over the road. The above situations justify switching on the fog lights. However, you should remember that this lighting, due to its strong intensity and brightness, may dazzle other drivers. Therefore, when road conditions improve, you must turn off the fog lamps. In addition, the use of fog lights when visibility on the road is good is associated with the possibility of receiving a fine and two penalty points. If the vehicle has the rear fog light on and the visibility is good, the driver may receive a fine of PLN 200. However, if the car has the front fog lamp on, the police may give a fine of PLN 100.
